PRAWNS

I Make Prawns (with a little help from a friend)

You may remember I posted about my friend Reen’s Delish Prawns a while ago, well I have been bugging her for ages to show me how to make them – although she swears there is no “recipe” as such she just throws it all into a pot with a little bit of love and out comes magic. She came around a few weeks ago and helped me create my own magic … I bought prawns from Fruit and Veg city (seriously inexpensive, these were on special R60 for 800g), they are whole prawns (and frozen) so you need to be a) not squeamish and b) not afraid to get your hands dirty. After a bit of defrosting and deveining and then the cooking began. You’ll need a big pot (or a wok), plenty of fresh garlic, fresh chili, soya sauce, fresh coriander and some spices and oh my word very shortly you’ll have some kind of deliciousness that is hard to describe. The sauce is sticky and tasty and simply moreish. Serve it up with slices of fresh bread (ciabatta or french works well) so you can soak up all the juices. Enjoyed with a bottle of bubbly and a great friend there isn’t much more a girl could ask for!
