I ♥ Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil

As with all good intentions, they are what they are … good intentions – not necessarily what the result is. I have been awfully quiet this year and have meant to blog, but life has happened and I haven’t found the time. So forgive me … all I can do is try (although is anyone actually reading anyways?!).

This post is slightly unusual for me, why yes I love to review a restaurant or a night on the town … but a beauty product? That is so unlike me! But this is such a wonderful discovery that I thought I needed to share with the world / handful of readers (thanks mom!).  Anyhoo, I want to tell you about something that has changed the way I view skincare. Lipidol!

But before I start I think I need to brief you on my history. Let me pre-empt things by saying you know how people say in my next life I want to come back as a cat or a dolphin or some such creature … I say in my next life I want to have good skin. No not the perfect, flawless kind, but the kind that isn’t totally sensitive and reacts to everything, eczema and sunburn prone and and and … I’m tired of people asking me if I’m sunburnt when I’m not wearing make-up. No kind neighbour this is just the colour of my skin – red and sensitive and no I don’t always want to wear make-up but thanks to your comments I feel uncomfortable enough that I will never leave my house without it! Ok rant over – well not really, people out there with lovely skin that don’t know what I’m talking about count yourself lucky! Those who do I salute you an will endevour to let you know about my finds when I discover them.

In my 31 years of life my skin has been a constant battle and I’ve been on diets and to numerous dermo’s to see what can be done, but alas there is nothing that pinpoints it exactly. So for the majority of my adult (and teenage) years I’ve been hunting for the best products that work for me. I would also like to thank my Wamness for being on this journey with me! The problem with sensitive skin is that you find a product it works for a while and then it stops working and then you just kinda go eeeeeeeeek! In my search for skincare there are certain products that I’ve been hunting for ….

1) The perfect moisturiser (a work in progress … watch this space)
2) The perfect primer to cover the red vibes (a definite work in progress – suggestions welcome)
3) The perfect foundation (I’m a fan of M.A.C but I still haven’t found the solution to all day coverage)
2) The perfect face wash – and voila here is where Lipidol comes in!

Social media is a wonderful source of info and I’m always reading what other people have to say or recommend and as an eternal optimist will try the latest offering and hope for the best. When a Facebook friend announced the launch of a product called Lipidol I was intrigued and so read up on it. First thing that caught my attention was the fact that the products didn’t cost an arm and two legs and possibly my food budget for the month at R80 a bottle what did I have to lose?! My next thing was that I discovered that it was an oil based product – ok weird, but my thinking was that it possibly wouldn’t leave my face feeling like a dried prune after using it (which I find so many products do). And it was available at Clicks so I could earn club card points?! Winning! So off I went to get myself a bottle of the cleanser.

I felt like a bit of a dork, because I didn’t immediately find it and then turned back around where I had first looked and there it was. A simple stand with the products in a plastic packet – no expensive packaging so you can see what you’re getting. I found what I was looking for and bought the cleaner (blue oil) as well as the after shower oil. And as with any new product I raced home to try it out. Oh boy was I pleasantly surprised, not only did my face feel incredible, it felt clean! I know that is a dumb statement when I am using a cleanser, but you’d be surprised at how many products I have tried that don’t feel like they have done anything once used.

I’ll admit that using an oil based cleanser is a bit weird at first, but you will soon love it, I am sure. My face felt soft – unusual for me. I have now been using it for almost 2 months on a daily basis and am SO happy with the results. I would highly recommend that you try this if you’re looking for a great product that does an incredible job and won’t cost you a fortune. Well done Lipidol!

I also really enjoy the after shower oil, but am sometimes just a bit lazy to slap it on. I will however say that I went out and bought the overnight face oil as well and am LOVING that too. So for me the Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil (blue) and the Lipidol Overnight Face Oil (yellow) are absolute winners and must have’s in the skincare department! Check out the cool bottles and packaging … (the see-through one is the after shower oil) – don’t have a pick of the Overnight oil.

Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil Review

P.S. How incredibly amazeballs is the view from my room! Lucky me!

Happy happy days! I am so ecstatic with this find. I’m also surprised at how little of the product you need to use at a time. So this is ticking all the boxes.

Economical – Lipidol wins
Does what is says (and more) – Lipidol wins
Long lasting – Lipidol win

I could babble on all day about this, but I won’t. Let me know what you think, have you used these products? Did you have similar results?

Also I’d love to hear from you if you have some skincare suggestions!

PS check out their range of products here.
