Cape Town is Wet

Cape Town is WET!

Winter is certainly here. Make no mistake about it, we have had an extremely cold week (I have taken my hot water bottle to work on a daily basis) and it feels like you’re breathing in ice when you get home at night. This only meant one thing, we were headed for a bit of a rainy weekend. And oh boy did the rain not dissapoint. Friday was pretty awful, Saturday surprised us with a stunner and then on to Sunday for the wettest of days I can remember in ages. I woke up to the sound of rain and it has pretty much continued all day.

Heading to the parentals for lunch I encounted river upon river with blocked drains. Thank goodness I’ve recently replaced my windscreen wipers, if you haven’t done so in a while I would suggest you get right on that!

My parents driveway was filling up with water at a hell of a rate and the grass is pretty water logged. The circle on the way to their house was completely flooded on one side. Driving through was quite an adventure.

Take a look at some of the pics! Dress up warmly kids. When in doubt bring a spare hot water bottle (or hottie as I like to refer to mine …)

Photo’s clockwise from top left: The water logged Rondebosch Common / Water from the driveway making it’s way into the garden / Muddy rain water / Hope there wasn’t anything important in the garage / The lawn in squishy with mud / Approaching the flooded circle

The main pic is driving slowly through the circle! Crazy rain hey?! Who left the tap on?

It must have been hell for those without adequate shelter.
Happily we desperately need water and the dams must be full to overflowing.
