Well it is Wednesday and I’m able to walk, which is very surprising. That means that I finished the 10km! Let me give you a quick overview. I woke up at 06h00 on Sunday morning, after trying to get an early night in the night before but only falling asleep after 01h00 – so needless to say I was a little sleepy. Revved myself up and was off to fetch Nix and Reen and head off to the start. We aimed to get there by 07h30 and we were all systems go with the exception of the traffic. So we only found a park spot at 07h55 and were about a 1.5km’s away from the start. Off we headed, passing the 5km mark only to be told the race had started so we set off on a jog to get into the race. Crikey were there thousands and thousands of people. Almost everyone, bar the three of us, were in their race t-shirts, so it was a sea of orange, infront, behind and in every direction. We just kept on trucking on although it was really difficult to maintain a run when the majority of the over 10000 entrants were walking. But we did as best we could, my friends being fitter and faster than me steamed on ahead. But I managed to come in only 5 mins after them which I was really happy with. Finished in 1h25 and just before the rain came down. So all things are good, legs weren’t even as soon as anticipated. Off for a training run with Sal this evening. Knysna here we come!

Well done, so impressed! I’ve been thinking about doing a half marathon for so long. You must let us know about the training schedule that you are (almost) following.
Doooooo it! Sign up for one. I’ll probably fall over in Knysna … but hopefully over the finish line! Will send you my training thing, it’s rather cool.
