I am really glad I don’t have my dad’s shellfish allergy … although I have heard that it can develop later in life so while shellfish doesn’t stop me breathing I’m gonna cram as much of it as I can into my belly! One of my favourite prawn dishes is created by Reen, a friend of mine from Sub B (grade two for those who don’t know what that is). This is a finger licking, total indulgence meal that you can never really have too much of. She’s made her prawns on several different occasions – including the Easter lunch where I provided the Bar-One Cheesecake. I’ve asked her many times to give me the recipe and have also watched her make it, but there is no recipe. This one comes straight from the heart and is made with love everytime – which I think makes food even better. The ingredients vary but there are a number of standards, fresh garlic (and spoonfulls of the stuff, not a date kinda meal), chilli, fresh herbs (coriander or parsley) and jeera (otherwise known as cumin). Sometimes it includes soya sauce, sometimes not and it is always, always served with chunks of bread. Mmm my mouth is watering thinking about this dish. Thank you Reenie for making such a rad prawn vibe.
PS – check out those rockstar ceramic wine goblets. They are awesome, if anyone finds more like those, please send them my way! Oh and that was 1kg of prawns which when we looked at it thought we’d never get through … but they were gone in about 15 minutes … piggy much?
