As I mentioned before Sarah came to visit and we ate and ate and ate. We had the most amazing lunch at Bistro Sixteen82 at Steenberg (one of my fav places to go). We followed this meal up with a girls dinner at La Boheme. Two amazeballs meals in one day! Fat much?!
But let me get back to lunch at Bistro. We decided to wing it, we hadn’t made a booking and we were incredibly chilled. The weather was brilliant and so we thought Bistro would be the perfect spot – they have a great little outside section where you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous setting. The restaurant was absolutely packed, but the hostess asked if we wanted to sit outside and have a drink while we waited for a table. Perfect, we could have a catch up in the sun sipping on my favourite bubbly! If you haven’t tried their 1682 give it a bash, you really won’t look back. After a good while in the sun we were showed to a table. The menu looked amazing, but two dishes immediately caught my eye. Sarah went straight for the steak – which was incredible. There is nothing like coming home from the UK and enjoying the amazing produce we have here. We really are lucky … check out her dish below.
I decided that instead of one main meal, I would be little miss piggy and have two starters. Oh boy oh boy am I glad I did because even the thought of these make me salivate. I adore risotto, there is something about the creaminess that I can’t get enough of. So when I saw there was a crab risotto I was sold. The crab came from somewhere in SA, but it was so long ago that I ate this that I can’t remember. Check out the dish in the pic below. Oh my peckle was it delish.
But the dish of the day had to be the scallops and chorizo! Holy cow! I actually don’t have many more words to say than can I please eat this every single day of my life! The scallops, which I have only eaten once previously were tender and juicy and simply delish. But once you added a mouthful of the salty and spicy chorizo with a scoop of the corn puree it was heaven on your tastebuds. I was that awkward person making noises while eating and pointing at the plate in sheer bliss. I will go back for this one, it was sooooooo amazingly good.
Finally to send us into a food coma we decided to share the MOST decadent dessert I have had in a long time. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called, but it was chocolate heaven. There was caramel topped with mini meringues, a chocolate truffle ball, salted almond ice cream (which was amazeballs and cut through the sweetness of the chocolate like nothing else) and finally the best crunchie I have ever had that was topped with a chocolate biscuit crumb. The crunchie was a chocolate almost ganache type thing with honeycomb inside it. Absolutely moreish and yummy delish.
What a meal! Steenberg you outdid yourself that day! I will be back and you’ll probably need to roll me out of there! Happy, thank you, more please!
