If you’ve ever been to Buitenverwachting either for their epic wine tasting or for their amazing food at the restaurant you will love another excuse to visit. They now have a really cool Coffee Shop open, which is also where you can get picnic stuff from. But I met friends there while they were buying wine for their wedding. It was a swelteringly hot day so I tried to pick a table in the courtyard that was slightly in shade – it didn’t last long. The setting is lovely you’re in one quarter of the courtyard overlooking the restaurant and the tasting room. A hive of activity, it was great to just sit back and chill out (while dripping with sweat … it was HOT).
I don’t know why I decided to order a coffee, especially on such a hot day, but I was glad I did. The mug was a monster though, this pic doesn’t really do it justice. Yes I needed two hands to hold it and yes I know I don’t have the biggest hands on the planet so this might not be a good indication of how big the mug was. Just take my word for it ok? The coffee was served quite beautifully on a gorgeous wooded board along with a yummy biscuit.
The shop inside also has a number of tasty treats and some wonderful looking cordial that I wouldn’t mind going back to get. I’ll be back there soon – I’m keen to have a picnic there oneday, anyone keen to join?
